This will be a great session as we look at cyborgs, a cybernetic organism, and cybernetics , a trans disciplinary science for the conceptualization, comprehension, creation and curation of systems.
We will also look at COSMISM, drawn from a fountainhead nourished by the wellspring of Russian Orthodox Christian Mysticism. Its primordial prophet, Nikolai Fyodorov, considered that humanity could and must unite in the Common Cause of the defeat of death. That Russia has Cosmonauts where others have Astronauts is an echo of Fyodorov’s voice. Cosmism is a protogenic form of what will morph in to Transhumanism.
TRANSHUMANISM arises in its modern form when Russian Cosmism is transplanted to and transmogrified in the USA in the late nineteenth century. Here it synthesis first with Manifest Destiny, then with the evolutionary Transhumanism, and eugenics, of J. B. S. Haldane and Julian Huxley, and then with the technological Transhumanism of Silicon Valley. For modern Transhumanism the cyborg is the inevitable and essential speciation required to transform Homo sapiens into the new form of life that will be capable of surviving the Singularity, conquering evolution, vanquishing death, and achieving the destiny of humanity on earth and amongst the stars.
